The Assistant Director is directly responsible for the design, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of clinical learning programs in alignment with MJHS Academy (including the MJHS Inter-professional Webinar Series).  Provides leadership for clinical and non-clinical learning initiatives, instructional design, digital learning solutions, webinar and e-learning development, and technology-enabled education programs.

This individual also partners with Human Resources, clinical leadership, operational teams, subject matter experts, and external academic partners to implement effective learning solutions that enhance employee capability, engagement, retention, and organizational performance.

Provides oversight and coordination for the MJHS Professional Preceptorship Program, ensuring high-quality experiential learning experiences that support career pathways, academic partnerships, and workforce pipeline development.

Responsibilities:

1.

Responsibility: Learning Strategy, Program Oversight & Academy Alignment

Performance Standards:

  • Identifies clinical learning needs, workforce capability gaps, and program priorities in collaboration with Academy leadership and organizational stakeholders.
  • Supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of clinical learning programs aligned with MJHS Academy priorities and organizational workforce development goals
  • Monitors learning program effectiveness and recommend enhancements based on learner feedback, stakeholder input, completion data, and evaluation results.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources, clinical leadership, operations, compliance, and other corporate partners to ensure learning programs align with organizational goals, workforce priorities, and regulatory requirements.

2.

Responsibility: MJHS Interprofessional Webinar Series for Continuing Education Program Management

Performance Standards:

  • Develops a strategic plan, identifies resources, and operationalizes specific activities related to the online presence of the MJHS Interprofessional Webinar Series for Continuing Education.
  • Chairs MJHS Continuing Education Curriculum Planning Committee (CECPC)
    • Collaborates with clinical leads throughout the organization to determine webinar content and skills gap solutions in alignment with best practices.
    • Curates a pipeline of clinical presenters and facilitators for CE webinars
  • Attains and maintains accreditation for webinar content ensuring they meet the guidelines and requirements for continuing education.
  • Provides oversight of the operations leading to website development and e-learning activities for on-demand continuation education content.
  • Provides content development guidance to clinical facilitators in alignment with accreditation standards and guidelines.

3.

Responsibility: Instructional Design, Curriculum Development & Learning Innovation

Performance Standards:

  • Applies instructional design principles and adult learning theory to create engaging, effective, and measurable learning experiences that aligns with MJHS Academy standards.
  • Collaborates with SMEs and leadership to design, develop, update and refine clinical training content including onboarding, continuing education, leadership development and professional development.
  • Develops learning solutions for instructor-led, virtual, blended, asynchronous, and technology-enabled formats.
  • Ensures content reflects current policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, best practices, and organizational standards.
  • Identifies opportunities to modernize learning through digital tools, multimedia resources, simulations, case-based learning, and learner-centered design.
  • Supports quality assurance of learning materials, facilitator guides, learner resources, and evaluation tools.

4.

Responsibility: Professional Preceptorship Program Coordination

Performance Standards:

  • Partners with clinical leadership to identify, onboard, and support preceptors across service lines
  • Coordinates learner placements and monitors progress throughout the preceptorship experience
  • Serves as liaison between employees, preceptors, and academic partners to ensures program alignment and effectiveness
  • Tracks program outcomes, participation, and completion data to support workforce planning and retention strategies
  • Ensures program adherence to organizational policies, academic requirements, and regulatory standards

5.

Responsibility: Clinical Learning Delivery, Facilitation & Learner Engagement

Performance Standards:

  • Delivers engaging training sessions across onboarding, clinical education, leadership development, and professional skills programs
  • Applies adult learning principles to ensure and promote learner engagement and knowledge retention
  • Facilitates learner-centered programs including discussion, practice, reflection, and application activities that support knowledge transfer to the work environment.
  • Adapts facilitation approach to meet the needs of diverse audiences and learning environments
  • Supports the continuous improvement of facilitation quality through participant feedback and evaluation data

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, required.  Master’s Degree in Nursing, preferred
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in education, training, instructional design, clinical learning, organizational development, or workforce development, preferably in a healthcare or corporate learning environment,
  • Experience in instructional design is required including needs analysis, content design and development, delivering and evaluating training programs.
  • Management skills for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of education and organizational development skills necessary to coordinate and manage teaching programs for staff and group facilitation skills required.
  • Project/ Program management experience preferred.
