Responsibilities:

MJHS Hospice and Palliative Care is proud to announce the establishment of a new accredited fellowship training program: The MJHS Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center.  This robust training program will offer a unique training experience across the following diverse practice sites for over 1,200 hospice and palliative care patients:

  • inpatient consultation service
  • inpatient hospice and palliative care units (IPU’s) and residences
  • ambulatory palliative care 
  • long-term care 
  • community-based palliative care
  • home hospice

The new training program will be embedded within MJHS Hospice and Palliative Care, the largest provider of community-based hospice and palliative care in the region, and as such, will be one of the only programs in the country to offer community-based training.  The fellowship curriculum closely follows the Hospice and Palliative Medicine Care Competencies as outlined by the ACGME, with teaching from a highly qualified physician and interdisciplinary faculty, and with academic affiliations to Albert Einstein, Montefiore, and the MJHS Institute for Innovation in Palliative Care.

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have completed an ACGME or American Osteopathic Association accredited residency in the following specialties: Anesthesiology, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Psychiatry, Radiation Oncology, or Surgery.  
  • Applicants must have passed USMLE Step 3 or an equivalent examination that qualifies for medical licensure (i.e., COMLEX).
  • Applicants must have, or obtain an unrestricted medical license in New York State.
  • Applicants must have graduated from an accredited MD/DO medical school.
