Responsibilities:

Responsibilities

  1. Creates monthly scheduling calendar
  • Assigns schedule for all evening and night shift nursing personnel
  • Submits schedule to senior staffing coordinator within time frame established
  1. Responds to requests for time off for specified shift
  • Reviews requests based on seniority, determines approval or denial status and reviews with Senior staffing coordinator before response is sent to employee
  • Makes alternative offer for those receiving denials
  • Maintains requests in order received (after annual time has passed) and determines approval or denial status and reviews with senior staffing coordinator before response is sent to employee
  1. Assists to replace Staff as result of unexpected absences
  • Receives list of shift staff identified and makes request that they provide coverage needed
  • Records changes on allocation sheet
  • Submits allocation sheet to senior staffing coordinator for further analysis
  1. Assists in all clerical functions of the Department of Nursing.
  • Answers telephones, routes callers, takes messages and provides routine information to callers.
  • Communicates effectively with personnel and other departments as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma Required
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a healthcare clerical position, preferably in nursing department and staffing/scheduling position
  • Microsoft word, excel and e-mail knowledge required.  Experience using scheduling software preferred (Kronos)
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours to meet the needs of residents, their families and designated representatives
  • Ability to promote teamwork
  • Effective time management skills
  • Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position.
