Responsibilities:

Assist Occupational Therapist to screen, assess evaluate and treat patients/residents in accordance with the techniques and procedures established by the American Occupational Association and in conformance with all federal, state and local regulatory agencies. Assist clinical staff and O.T.R. during administration of situational or diagnostic tests to measure the patient's ability to progress. Fabricates splints and other assistant devices under the supervision of the O.T.R. Schedule patients/residents for evaluation and treatment . Assists in instructing patients and family members of home programs the proper care and use of adaptive equipment. Participate in care planning for patients/residents, including completion of MDS. Attend mandatory in-services, Rehabilitation team meeting and other relevant in-services Maintain work and storage area, department supplies, and equipment used for patient/resident treatment. Maintain and observe information in-patient records and prepares reports, billings and statistics.

Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • One year experience in adult physical dysfunction or relevant student clinical experience
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Current NYS license to practice Occupational Therapy
  • Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support
  • Eligible for AOTA certification
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Sensitivity toward the aged and disabled population
