The Friendly Visiting Coordinator (FVC) is based at the local case management site in the community. The FVC will work with volunteers, the community, City Meals, the on-site case management team and the homebound elderly. A key role of the position is the coordination of programs that encourage local volunteers to connect with their homebound elderly neighbors on a consistent basis through friendly visiting and its variations.

FVC must recruit, interview and successfully match friendly visiting volunteers with frail homebound and elderly clients in order to reduce loneliness and isolation amongst the homebound population. 

  • Recruit local residents to visit with the homebound elderly
  • Administer the volunteer screening process including interviews and reference checks
  • Train volunteers on the needs of the homebound elderly and emergency protocols
  • Maintain ongoing communication with friendly visiting volunteers via phone calls and emails, and with the homebound elderly with in-home visits and phone calls
  • Manage the matchmaking and introduction process for the volunteer and homebound elderly senior
  • Evaluate the success of matches and program
  • Recognize local friendly visitors with emails, thank you notes and events
  • Work with Citymeals to receive volunteer referrals from our Volunteer department
  • Report to Citymeals, monthly and quarterly the total number of matches and friendly visiting hours
  • Attend Citymeals training sessions


  • College Degree in Human Services a plus, bi-lingual a must
  • At least three years’ experience in the field of human services and some experience on an administrative level, preferably in the field of aging
  • Microsoft office applications, especially Outlook for email, calendar, contacts
  • Other applications helpful include Excel, internet and research tools
  • Good communication, writing, judgment, interpersonal and problem-solving skills

  • Able to work in a fast–paced environment and handle multiple tasks, maturity, self-assurance and self-motivation
